Purple Psion Crystal:

Aberrant characters can wear a Purple Psion Crystal by adding [ppc] to the front of their Discord nickname.
A character must wear one for an hour before the following mechanics are available and cannot take it off for an hour after benefiting from the crystal’s mechanics.

  • Aberrant skill mind cost reduced by 2 for Basic, 4 for Proficient and 6 for Master.

  • Aberrant skills now cost 1 body for Basic, 2 body for Proficient and 3 body for Master.

  • Undead and anti-aberrant antagonists may target those wearing a PPC first.

This plot (Crystal Chaos) is designed to allow Players to pursue developing technology in the setting. The listing shows CURRENT basic knowledge people have with their Lores about the PPCs. As players engage in mods and other avenues of research this page will be updated so that those with lores can easily benefit from everyone’s research.

Lores:

  • Animals - The more intelligent the creature the more responsive they seem to be to the PPC’s resonances.

  • Aberrants - It commonly accepted that aberrant brains are able to interact with infectious material through an effort of pure will. Some access this through their beliefs and some by utilizing different resonances (often associated with crystals). These purple crystals must resonate differently and so have a different effect than the normal psionic crystals do.

  • Faith - The Widowmaker Crystal Priest Cult considered these to be dangerous and always removed them to the deep tunnels where they originate from most of the time.

  • Lineages - These have an enhanced effect on Devoted, typically causing headaches and hallucinations. This is no doubt due to the Lineage’s tight connection to the Mortis Amaranthe.

  • Medical - The Infectious Material’s heightened sensitivity within the Devoted is what causes their poor reaction the purple crystals. Something that dampened the resonance would likely mitigate the enhanced effect.

  • Mortis Amaranthe/Infection - The way in which the purple crystals’ resonance interacts with Infections Material could modify the way in which people interact with the Gravemind but specific testing would be required to determine what the modification would be.

  • Nature - Plants associated with abberrant elements have a muffling impact for the resonances produced by purple crystals. There aren’t many of these specimens but Strangler Vines are certainly one of them.

  • Post-Fall History - The Elevator Shaft giving access to the deep caves beneath Crystal Creek was destroyed before the Earthquakes. Purple Crystals that were appearing above ground had a grossly negative impact on the topside wildlife and were put back into the caves.

  • Pre-Fall History - Maybe it’s amethyst?

  • Raiders - The lack of infectious material means that this isn’t likely to have a strong impact on MOST Raiders, but could have a ridiculously strong impact on Tribes that are like Grave Head Raiders.

  • Undead - The abundance of infectious material in Undead means that purple crystal resonance would have an enhanced effect.

  • Wasteland Science - All psion crystals have resonance and could potentially be a source of piezoelectric energy which could be used for any number of purposes.

Other Sources of Information:

  • Mind Killer - If these crystals resonate differently it could make them a tool FOR Aberrants, but also potentially AGAINST Aberrants - it all depends on the purpose the tool is put to.
