Today’s Protip is a very timely one for us to talk about. Our last Protip was about immersion in the game. We spoke about how to create that feel for the game that we lay over ourselves like a blanket and think I am in this world for real. Today I want to talk about how to get the most out of your game.
Several times we have had feedback from players that it seems like the plot is only being written for a certain group of people. This refrain has come up over and over again throughout the years we have run our game. We strive not to make this a reality, but sometimes that perception is out there. If you are feeling like this is so. Please talk to us. We can't fix anything if we don't know it's broken. But there is some of the responsibility that lays on you as the player. So this Protip is how to proactively make sure you are involved in what is happening.
To begin, the simplest way to make sure you are involved is to get involved. You can do two things while playing this game. Actively look to get involved or wait around for involvement to find you. Plot hooks run out of Ops all the time. Jump into whatever they are doing. Go do the dumb as we like to say. It makes for better stories to play with what is being sent out. IF you choose not to do the things that have been written. That is a choice. That plot goes on without you. While you sit there waiting for something you want to do.
Now you say… Hey that sounded dumb or something I am not interested in so why go do it? Your right, that might not be up your alley or something you want to be involved in. So what do I do now? Well my friends, allow me to educate you on how to help create a plot that YOU will be interested in!!!!
First out of the gate is….. REQUEST PERSONAL PLOT!!! You got a plot idea?? Ask for it! Our writers would love to create something for you and with you. Put in a request!!! Also, have you turned in a backstory for your character? Plot can come from that as well.
I know you guys think we are super clairvoyant and can just read your minds, but no that is not true. Our writers are very creative and will make up great stories for you but if we don't know what you want then it will be hit or miss.
3.0 also gives us the ability to request master abilities Mod. There may be Master Criminal, Master Financial, Master Social and a few more master abilities that you can request mods be written just for those with those skills!
You can also request a PFA plot request for your characters as well!
So there are lots of opportunities to help our writers create the plot you want to see.
