The Start of an Outro

We’ve never hidden things from ya’ll and I don’t intend to start now. Here’s the TLDR, but please read the rest when you can, I promise it’s not too long. <3

I’m stepping back.

In June I’m folding the company Besides Ourselves Productions, LLC that has been a franchisee with Dystopia Rising LLC.

Beth, Truate, and Ro are creating a company that will work with DR LLC and continue doing business as Dystopia Rising: Arkansas. The current plan is that I’ll work with them as a contracted employee to help with transition and teach them bits they may not have learned yet.

So that’s the TLDR - here’s the mush and whys.

It’s been a wild and wonderful six years filled with a mix of happiness, stress, exhaustion and accomplishment. I look at everything and I feel proud. I also feel very tired. I’m at the point where I know I’m lacking the drive that this position deserves. I care, but not as much as I should. And so I’m taking a step back and giving myself room to heal from burn-out before I damage the beautiful thing I helped make with ya’ll.

I taught ya’ll the phrase “I am because you are” - a simplified way of saying that I reflect back the things ya’ll give to me. If I am kind it is because you show me kindness. I am taking the step back because otherwise I won’t be able to reflect back all the amazing things ya’ll bring into the community and my life.

Nothing changes if nothing changes. I can’t expect my burnout to magically heal if I don’t change what I’m doing - so here I am making a very hard, but very necessary, change.

I’m still going to be around, I’m still going to be involved - just not as much and moving towards less visibility. Give your love and support to the new team like you did the old and everything’ll be amazing all over again.

From your new team:

We’re still arranging things on the back-end BUT we can let you know the following:

Ian will remain involved as a contracted employee, but won’t be an owner in the new business. So responsibilities are shifting but the faces remain the same!

We’re looking to start back at live events SOMEWHEN in July or August IF the local COVID-19 numbers, state (AR Dept of Health), and CDC guidelines are favorable.

We will be requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend our events. You must have completed a course of treatment two weeks prior to our event.

We will also be requiring face masks per state & CDC guidelines.

Keep an eye out for future announcements from us - we’ll let you know the good news when we have it!

-Beth, Truate & Ro
