Pro-Tip Thursday!

Greetings Survivors!!!

At the end of last week's Pro-Tip, I said we would be discussing more specific combat skills and calls.  However, I want to take a page out Jonathan Lloyd's book over at Dystopia Rising Texas. He Does an excellent blog for them he calls the Rules Ramble.  I recommend you look him up and check out what he does!   So we are going to interrupt what I planned to discuss with a conversation with the new things that are coming out of National before our next game!

To begin this discussion we have two new resources for players to use:

Errata & FAQ — Dystopia Rising

And

Lexicon — Dystopia Rising

Both of these exist to provide information to the players. Those of us who have played Dystopia Rising for several years are aware of two things.

1. Things often need clarification

2.  New things come out all the time that are not in the book.

So, to provide a place that players (and Staff! ;-)  can go to get the current information.

Now I do not know about you, but I had to look up what Errata meant.  I mean, I knew FAQ meant Frequently asked questions, but my brain was puzzled looking at Errata so for the rest of you who don't know what it meant either, here it is.

er·ra·tum

/eˈrädəm/

noun

plural noun: errata

  1. an error in printing or writing.

    • a list of corrected errors appended to a book or published in a subsequent issue of a journal.

So, if you knew that already… Then congratulations, you are very smart… Now shut up….

This means that this is where they have found mistakes in the book, and this is the place where you get clarifications of rules that are used at National Events.  Now some of you paid attention to that last statement and asked “what about my local game? “If our Local game uses a different interpretation of the national rules at our game, we will list it on our website in a game space to clarify our local rules.

So Unlike Errata, I am very familiar with the word Lexicon.  Most games have their own vocabulary of words and terms that players have to become familiar with.  The Lexicon is actually going to be a living document, meaning it will be updated and changed as new things come out or meanings of the words change.

So, these are two great resources for everyone to use!  I would recommend taking some time before our online game on Feb 18th through the 20th!

Well, I will see you next week, Survivors!!!  For a little fun I put a movie quote in this pro-tip.  The first person to DM the quote and the movie it is from I will give 10 caps to!

Till next week! See you in the Waste!
