The Wyld Hunt - A Few Details

No, this isn’t designed to increase or encourage CvC - if you’ll check out the two posters one of them specifically says “ya’ll against them”. We’re creating a temp-tribe of The Wyld Hunt, and they’ll have face-markings just like the mask in either blue or orange.

Those NPCs are where you can earn and spend tokens, but they’re only gonna be one source. Other sources (and places you can spend them) will come up during game.

This event -is- based on some of the myths of the Wyld Hunt, but as with most things in Dystopia Rising we twisted it to fit our setting. We hope you enjoy.


The part you may not have known is that we also brought in an element of the real-world stuff behind those myths. Many think that cases of hypothermia were the source of many people’s hallucinations and thus the myths developed as an explanation. That miiiiight be relevant this weekend too. :)

How to Fight a Big Prop-Monster

I know, you’ve waited yeeeaaaaars for us to have a big-bad-prop-thingie for you to fight.

So for safety, and mine & Beth’s sanity, we’re going to FIRMLY GO OVER THE RULES of how to fight one of these beasties.

There will be an actor inside the costume, yes - they are on stilts. Yes I am nervous about that with our terrain but I’m assured (by them) that it’ll be fine. There is NO ACCEPTABLE REASON to hit the actual on-stilts-actor-inside-a-prop-monster. Instead there will be NPCs in black representing each of the ‘weapons’ of the monster - those you can hit within the normal scope of combat rules. :)

Winter Break & You

The employees are probably going to ‘disappear’ for a bit as we use this time to recharge our batteries, but you can expect us back at the first of the year.

Things we’ll be doing between now and then?

  • Finalizing and sending out the annual survey to see what you liked, what you didn’t and see where we should steer stuff next year.

  • Finalizing details on the 2020 Marshal Team & our annual retreat in January.

  • Putting together the 2020 list of overarcing stories!

  • Playing lots of video games, reading books, building snowmen or maybe even gasp working on our own kits?!? But for real, we (the employees and others in the community) use this time to try and heal the burnout we inevitably gain during the season - please be kind to us and each other. <3
